Mahima Herath has won the third place in the 2024 Humanitarian Innovation Pitch program organized by the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Sydney.
This is a screening program and a study of at-risk community groups around the world.
Mahima Herath’s study, which won third place here, is about creating a model for improving the lives of some 70,000 Syrian refugees in the Zaatari refugee camp in Jordan.
Accordingly, the study presented by him has managed to get the third place in the research program.
The first place winner of the program was Emily Nabong, a student at the University of Sydney, the second place went to Phyllis Ngugi of Bond University and the third place went to Mahima Herat, a student at Griffith University.
Students from many universities in Australia have come forward for this program and the aim is to find solutions to the problems faced by underprivileged or vulnerable communities around the world.
