NSW woman confuses $1 million Lotto win for $1000

A NSW woman has had the shock of her life after she initially mistook her $1 million Lotto win for $1000 because she didn’t read the commas properly.

The woman, from Newcastle, discovered she was one of five Saturday Lotto division winners who pocketed $1,012,896.39.

She confessed to the Lott she first thought she’d won $1000.

“I didn’t look at all the commas,” she added.

”I had to ring my sister as I just couldn’t read it properly! Wow!”

She said she doesn’t usually play Saturday Lotto and had bought the ticket on a whim.

“I’m just in shock. I can’t believe it. It’s always been a dream to win. This will completely change my life – put it that way!” she said.

After having only two hours sleep since the win, she said she now plans to invest her winnings into a nest egg.

“My first priority is to pay off the house and go from there – whatever the financial advisor tells me to do. I want a nest egg for the future,” she said.

The winning numbers for Saturday’s draw were 31, 30, 23, 29, 17 and 25, while the supplementary numbers were 6 and 14.

There were five division one winning entries in Saturday Lotto – three from Victoria and one each from New South Wales and Queensland.
