The countries with the lowest retirement ages

The retirement landscape can look completely different depending on what country you’re in.

Retirement age by country reveals a lot of differences in the the makeup of a labor force, both for economic and cultural reasons.

China

China has some of the earliest retirement ages in the world.

Women can retire at 50 if they’ve worked in a blue-collar job, or 55 if they have worked in professional or civil service careers and Men become eligible for the pension when they are 60.

North Korea

In North Korea, the retirement age is 60 for men and 55 for women

Venezuela

Women in Venezuela can retire when they are 55, while men can retire at age 60.

Colombia

In Colombia, workers can retire at age 57 for women, and age 62 for men

Australia

For reference, Australia has one of the highest retirement ages in the world, at age 67.
