Total of 246 independent groups have placed their cash deposits for the upcoming general elections scheduled for November 14, 2024, the Election Commission stated.
The groups made their deposits between September 25 and October 08.
Key districts with the highest number of deposits include Batticaloa (22), Jaffna (22), Digamadulla (37), Trincomalee (17) and Colombo (17).
Meanwhile, a total of 17 political parties and 16 independent groups have so far submitted their nominations to the Election Commission.
