Nationals leader David Littleproud has called on the consumer watchdog to ensure falling cattle prices are passed on quickly to consumers at supermarkets.
Lamb and beef prices have fallen sharply in the last year, but supermarket prices of meat products have remained the same.
Littleproud wants the ACCC to keep the supermarkets in check via a price enquiry that would offer relief to shoppers feeling the pinch of heightened cost of living.
The government has already launched a review into the issue.
However, Agriculture Minister Murray Watt is asking supermarkets to act faster and pass on fairer prices.
