The Victorian government has received instruction to hand over key documents with the hope of uncovering details behind the decision to back out from hosting the 2026 Commonwealth Games.
A letter reveals Premier Jacinta Allan wrote to the committee on October 7, claiming executive privilege over evidence.
A summons has now been issued for all relevant briefs provided to ministers.
The Legislative Council can order the release to the Games Committee of documents the Victorian government is holding close to its chest.
Departments have until November 30 to comply with the order.
