A Senate inquiry will be held into the superannuation and insurance sectors following complaints families could not access funds and death benefits.
Liberal Senator Andrew Bragg says it is “very important” that the superannuation and insurance industries “support the workers and the consumers”.
“The reality is that too many Australians have had a bad experience when it comes to claiming a death or a TPD claim,” Mr Bragg told Sky News Australia.
“Where the Super funds have just held onto the money for months and sometimes years.
“We need to get to the bottom of why that is happening and how it can be reformed.”
