21 shooting deaths in first 72 days of 2024 in Sri Lanka

A total of 30 shooting incidents have been reported in various parts of Sri Lanka between January 01 and March 12 this year, the Police said. 

Police Spokesman DIG Nihal Thalduwa said that 21 persons were reported dead and 14 have been injured in the reported shootings. 

He further said that information has come to light that 17 of the shooting incidents had been carried out by organized criminal gangs operating in Sri Lanka. 

DIG Thalduwa added that the remaining 13 shooting incidents had occurred over personal disputes. (NewsWire)
