A “wet and stormy weekend” has multiple states facing the possibility of severe storms and heavy rain in the coming days.
Bureau of Meteorology senior meteorologist Miriam Bradbury said yesterday’s heavy rainfall in Queensland and New South Wales showed no signs of stopping, while other states could expect more moisture.
Storms and rain covered parts of inland Queensland, eastern New South Wales, far eastern Victoria and northern Tasmania yesterday.
Queensland saw falls of up to 55mm, while parts of NSW saw falls of 40mm to 60mm in as little as 30 minutes.
The rain was enough to cause flash flooding in some areas.
