There are fears the Australian Border Force will not be able to control the illegal importation of single-use vapes.
Labor’s crackdown on all vapes, not just nicotine-filled ones, has been welcomed by public health advocates.
The ABF maintains they are stopping the now illegal supply in its tracks.
Australian Border Force National Operations Deputy Commissioner Tim Fitzgerald has applauded a successful, first 24 hours of the ban being implemented.
Mr Fitzgerald also warned, without a permit, vapes would be “seized and destroyed”.
