Adelaide’s Hindmarsh Stadium operators say CEO Anthony Kirchner has been stood down

Adelaide Venue Management (AVM) has confirmed Anthony Kirchner has been stood down as its chief executive officer.

A statement sent by AVM on Sunday afternoon said Martin Radcliffe, who is the general manager of the Adelaide Convention Centre, has been appointed acting CEO.

“Given the review underway, no further comment will be provided at this time,” the statement read.

It follows a decision to ban fans of A-League side Melbourne Victory from an upcoming match at Adelaide’s Hindmarsh Stadium, a plan that was reversed just hours after being announced.

On Thursday, AVM posted a statement on its website saying Victory fans would be barred due to a history of “violent and riotous behaviour”.

AVM initially said only Adelaide United members and ticket holders with a South Australian postcode would be allowed to attend the A-League men’s game, scheduled for March 9, between United and Victory.

But within hours of that statement being posted, AVM appeared to back down on the ban.
