Anura Kumara Dissanayake, the presidential candidate of the National People’s Power (NPP), has stated that his rivals have no substantial criticisms against him, resorting instead to slander and lies.
Dissanayake expressed confidence in his campaign’s success, citing the panic among other candidates as evidence of their acceptance of defeat.
Dissanayake highlighted several false allegations made by his opponents, including claims from an SJB MP in Kandy that the NPP would stop the Kandy Perahera, and similar accusations in Kurunegala.
“Victory is assured. The nature of panic from among the other camps clearly shows us that they have accepted defeat. They are criticizing us, spreading false news, and are even distorting the comments that we make. That is all they do,” he said.
He also mentioned that his rivals are spreading misinformation in villages, suggesting that the NPP would suspend the Samurdhi welfare program for the poor and restrict business operations if elected.
