Albanese government has ‘not lived up to its promise’: James Paterson

Shadow Home Affairs Minister James Paterson says the Albanese government has not “lived up to its promise” and the Prime Minister is “not focusing” on the needs of Australians.

Newspoll analysis shows support for Labor dropping in key demographics, including 35 to 49-year-olds and its leads amongst female voters has also fallen away.

“The Albanese government has not lived up to its promise,” Mr Paterson told Sky News Australia.

“It has been completely distracted – it spent its first 18 months being utterly obsessed with the Voice and dividing Australians. It spent nearly half a billion of taxpayer’s money on that.

“In the middle of a cost-of-living crisis, when they promised things like cheaper mortgages, cheaper groceries and cheaper petrol, they have delivered nothing of the sort.

“Australians are really struggling because the Prime Minister is not focusing on them, and his priority is not them; it’s something else.”
