The Prime Minister has declared cost of living will be the government’s top priority in 2024.
The New Year will see many aid policies come into effect – including allowing aged pensioners and veterans to earn more without their pension payments being reduced. Payments to over 900,000 youths, carers and students will also be boosted by six percent next year while 300,000 fee free TAFE courses will be on offer. Wages have not kept up with inflation as Australian spending power has gone backwards by 5.6 per cent. From July 1 next year, stage three tax cuts will be launched, with Australians earning over $45,000 to keep more of their income.
