Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is expected to take a strict approach on trade during the first visit to China by an Australian prime minister since 2016.
Mr Albanese is pushing for the importance of rules-based trade, following the coercive trade bans China placed on Australia in the past.
The $2.5 billion in trade bans will be lifted in the coming months.
However, bans on seafood and beef are expected to remain unresolved.
Albanese is also expected to decline an anticipated request that Australia support Beijing’s entry into the regional free trade agreement.
