Almost 4000 Kia vehicles recalled due to software issue

Thousands of Kia vehicles have been recalled over fears a software issue could cause injury or death.

The defect impacts almost 4000 Kia MQ4 Sorentos and MQ4 PHEV Sorentos made in 2022.

According to the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts, the car’s indicators may not light up due to a software issue.

“If the turn indicators do not illuminate as intended, other road users would be unable to identify if the vehicle is turning,” the department said.

“This could increase the risk of an accident causing serious injury or death to vehicle occupants and/or other road users.”

The department has advised owners of the impacted cars to “immediately” contact a Kia dealer and arrange to have the issue repaired.

The work will be carried out free of charge.

For more information, customers should contact Kia customers service on 131 542 or email customer_service@kia.com.au.
