An increase in funnel-web spiders in Sydney homes

Sydney residents have been warned to be careful as they enter peak funnel-web spider season.

Male funnel-web spiders are on the hunt for mates and experts say they are bound to pop up in homes and gardens across Greater Sydney.

Funnel-web spiders are known to hide in cool and damp areas like gardens and sheds.
They can enter homes, especially in laundries, garages, shoes and pool filters.

Residents are advised to thoroughly inspect these areas of their homes to avoid spider bites.

A funnel-web spider's venom is lethal and can kill someone within 20 minutes.
