Aruna Darshana joins Sri Lanka’s Contingent for Paris 2024 Olympics

Sri Lanka adds another name to its roster of talented athletes for the Paris 2024 Olympics as Aruna Darshana qualifies to compete in the Men’s 400m event.

His qualification marks a significant milestone, making him the sixth Sri Lankan athlete to secure a spot in the prestigious games.

Darshana joins an impressive lineup of Sri Lankan athletes set to represent the nation in various disciplines. Among them are Asian Games medallist Tharushi Karunarathna, who will compete in the Women’s 800m event, and Dilhani Lekamge, currently ranked 26th, who will participate in the Women’s Javelin Throw.

In Badminton, Viren Nettasinghe, who recently made history by becoming the youngest Sri Lankan to directly qualify for the Olympics, will compete in the Men’s Single. The swimming events will see Kyle Abeysinghe in the Men’s 100m Freestyle and Ganga Seneviratne in the Women’s 100m Backstroke, both having earned Universality Places. (NewsWire)
