Australia Post releases its deadlines for sending Christmas parcels

As the countdown to Christmas begins, now is the time to plan ahead.

Australia Post has strict deadlines for when parcels and cards need to be put in the post so they can make it overseas or to locations around Australia in time for the holidays.

Here is a rundown of the dates you need to make to have your mail delivered on time.

If you are sending mail from within Australia (except Western Australia and the Northern Territory), the last day for parcel post is December 18 and the last day for express post is December 21.

Residents in WA will need to send their mail via parcel post by December 15 and express post by December 20.

If you’re sending a parcel overseas, the deadline is earlier.

For parcels being sent to China and most of Asia, the deadline is November 30 for standard shipping and December 7 for express shipping.

If you need to send a parcel to any of the major European destinations, you should ship it off by December 1 for standard shipping and December 8 for express shipping.

For deliveries to the UK, parcels need to be sent by December 5 for standard shipping and December 12 for express shipping.

If you want parcels to arrive to the US in time, you need to ship your presents by December 6 for standard shipping and December 13 for express post.

For Canada, be sure to pop your presents in the post box by December 4 for standard shipping or December 11 for express shipping.

If you’re sending a gift across the ditch, send it off by December 7 for standard shipping or December 13 for express to be sure it arrives in New Zealand in time.
