For the first time, a group of Australian doctors have conducted an experiment using modern technology for cataract surgery.
It is reported that doctors at a Queensland state hospital have conducted this experiment using a new surgical microscope for cataract surgery.
Doctors have stated that this method is a very fast and safe procedure for surgery.
Mater Private Hospital is piloting the system, which will enable surgeons to observe and perform cataract surgery using 3D views on a computer monitor and digital cameras.
A special feature of this is that the eye surgery site can be observed through a 55-inch screen.
These new surgeries are to be rolled out across Australia after successful trials.
