A pair of mis-struck Australian coins are expected to sell at auction for thousands of dollars.
Noble Numismatics will offer the two coins as separate lots in an auction running from April 8-12.
This “50 cent” coin, which was accidentally struck on a 20 cent blank disc, is expected to sell for $1500.
It has never been circulated.
And the auction will also feature this “nearly uncirculated and very rare” 1994 10c piece, which was accidentally struck on a 5c blank.
Noble estimates it will sell for $1000.

A 20-cent coin is up for sale through MR Roberts Wynyard Coin Centre for $150 due to a rim error.
The 1974-minted coin was struck with a “clipped planchet” – meaning the metal disc used to strike the coin had an error around the rim.
This is visible on the obverse side, on the rim next to the date “1974”.

A missing bite from one edge of the coin is known in numismatics (the study of coins) as a “bitten rim”.
It is a somewhat rare error of a coin that was minted 33,548,000 times.
