Bad weather disrupts many people in Sri Lanka

Bad weather has affected 20 districts and more than 276,000 people have been affected

The Disaster Management Center (DMC) says that 80,642 families in 166 divisional secretariats have been affected by the bad weather conditions.

DMC reports that 16,553 people from 5,305 families have shifted to shelters and 276,550 people have been affected.

Besides, the Irrigation Department warns that the flood situation will continue in the low-lying areas around the reservoirs.

Irrigation Engineer G.W.A. Sakura Diltara points out that since the water levels of Deduru Oya and Mahaweli Ganga are rising, the floods in the surrounding areas are likely to worsen.

They are also requested to be attentive about future advisories issued by the Department of Meteorology in this regard
