Bill Shorten Confirmed No Plan Yet On Banning TikTok In Australia

Assistant Minister to the Prime Minister Patrick Gorman says the Albanese government will “continue to obtain advice” from security agencies and “monitor what’s happening” in the United States after Congress voted in favour of banning TikTok.

The US Congress has voted in favour of new legislation that could lead to social media app TikTok being banned in the United States.

The Australian government seems reluctant to follow suit.

“We’ll continue to obtain advice from our security agencies,” Mr Gorman told Sky News Australia.

“We’ll monitor what’s happening in the United States.

“if the security agencies give us advice we need to act upon, we’ll do that.”
