A Brisbane woman almost lost her ticket in the $100 million Powerball before realising she had won big.
The mum from Aspley has been identified as the single division one winner becoming a multi-millionaire overnight following yesterday’s draw.
She is not only the state’s biggest lottery winner, but also the third-biggest lottery winner in Australian history.
The winning ticket was purchased at Nextra Chermside Newsagency, on Gympie Road.
During the morning news bulletin on Friday, reporter Michael Hammond said the win “went to a mum from the north side suburb of Aspley”.
“The winner has just been found,” Hammond said.
“They purchased their ticket from a local Westfield here in Brisbane …
“She had left her ticket in her car glovebox and forgotten about it, only checking it after returning from her morning run.
“Because the entry wasn’t registered with Lotto officials, they actually weren’t able to break the wonderful news to her any earlier.”
