Businesses suffering cyber-attacks to be granted new legal protections

Businesses will soon be granted new legal protections when reporting cyber-attacks.

The federal government has flagged new laws which will see the creation of a no-fault mandatory reporting system.

The new laws will also require businesses to work with government investigators after any cyber incidents.

A Cyber Incident Review Board is also being established to conduct post-incident investigations into major cyber-attacks.

Labor hopes the new rules, part of a seven-year cyber security strategy, will mitigate further incidents.
