Deadline for Presidential Candidates to Submit Financial Reports Ends 

The deadline for presidential election candidates to submit their campaign income and expenditure reports concludes Yesterday , as announced by the Election Commission.

To date, only about 20 candidates have fulfilled this requirement.

According to the Presidential Elections Act, candidates must submit their income and expenditure reports within 21 days of the announcement of the presidential election results.

Among those who have complied are Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka, Dr. Wijeyadasa Rajapakse, and Janaka Ratnayake.

A total of 38 candidates submitted nominations for the 2024 presidential election.

The Election Commission has urged all candidates to ensure their reports are submitted by the end of the day.

Failure to submit these reports will result in legal action against the non-compliant candidates.

If found guilty in court, a candidate will lose their voting rights and seat, and could face a fine of Rs. 100,000.
