
The death toll from the incident where fishermen consumed an unknown substance floating in the sea has risen to four, the Sri Lanka Navy announced.
Four members of the six-person fishing crew from Tangalle have died, and two are in critical condition after they consumed the contents of a bottle found floating at sea, believing it to be alcohol.
The Sri Lanka Navy also reported that the two critically ill fishermen have been taken aboard a Singaporean merchant vessel, where they are receiving emergency treatment.
The incident occurred on Saturday (29), around 320 nautical miles (approximately 592.64 kilometers) off the coast of Sri Lanka. (NewsWire)
