Doctors have warned not to sit on the toilet for more than 10 minutes.
Medical experts point out that due to the fact that people have a habit of taking their phone to the toilet, the action that takes a few minutes turns into 15 minutes.
Experts warn that sitting on the toilet for long periods of time can harm health.
According to Fara Monsour, M.D., assistant professor of bowel disease at Stony Brook Medicine, New York, the average time spent on the toilet is five to 10 minutes.
It has been revealed that sitting for a long time in the toilet affects blood circulation and the veins and blood vessels around the anus enlarge and increase the risk of hemorrhoids.
Professor Farah Monsur points out that by trying to go to the toilet forcefully, the chances of developing hemorrhoids increase, and by straining to pass stool, the muscles get tired.
Doctors have also warned that worsening constipation or needing to sit on the toilet for a long time can be a sign of cancer.
