Dozens of stores are set to shut at popular shopping centre

Dozens of stores in one of Melbourne’s biggest shopping centres will close for several months due to ongoing renovation work.

Pacific Werribee, which has been undergoing major upgrades, and car park construction since the beginning of 2023, has now announced several shops, including Myer, will be forced to close.

Following completion of the first stage of work, the second stage commenced on January 10, 2024 and is expected to continue until the end of the year.

This stage of work will mostly take place near Myer at the shopping centre.

As a result, H&M, Just Jeans, Jay Jays, Sportsgirl, Dotti, Black Art, Mocha, T2, Melbourne Jewellers, General Pants, Timezone and Martini & Co will close until at least the middle of this year.

Myer, Village Cinemas, JB Hi-Fi, Grill’d, San Churro, The Sporting Globe and La Porchetta will also close in February.

It’s expected that these stores will reopen before the end of the year.

Myer’s last day of trade will be on February 14.

It’s understood all permanent employees have been offered jobs at other stores, and will be asked back to Werribee when works are complete.

“We thank customers for their understanding during this time, and will continue to serve them at nearby stores and online while the store is closed.”

Several stores including Mecca, Seed, Peter Jackson and Pandora, will temporarily relocate to different parts of the centre due to the works.

They will remain at the new locations until the middle of the year.

Carpark works will also continue with three carparks — the rooftop/level 1, ground floor and lower ground floor — all currently closed.

Target had also been closed for several months in 2023 while works were ongoing.

Pacific Werribee started renovations in January despite undergoing a major $370 million upgrade that was completed in 2017.
