Every road closure for Sydney Marathon on Sunday

The Sydney Marathon will shut down dozens of streets across several parts of the city on Sunday, as thousands of runners take to the streets for the race.

The marathon starts at 6am on Sunday, however, road closures will be in effect before that.

Sydney CBD, Circular Quay, The Rocks & Barangaroo

Road Closures between 4am and 10am: 

  • The Sydney Harbour Bridge, Cahill Expressway and Western Distributor will be closed in both directions.
  • Roads between York Street and Macquarie Street will be closed including:
  • Bridge Street, Pitt Street, Young Street, Phillip Street, Bent Street, Hunter Street, King Street, Elizabeth Street, Castlereagh Street, Hickson Street, George Street, and surrounding local streets.

Other road closures in the CBD: 

  • Macquarie Street from the Opera House will be closed from 4am-3pm.
  • Anzac Parade from Moore Park to Kingsford will be closed from 5am to 11.30am.
  • Park Street and William Street will be closed between Elizabeth Street and Crown Street from 5am until 2pm.
  • Major roads between the city and Moore Park will be closed until 2pm including College Street, Park Street, Oxford Street and Flinders Street.
  • The Harbour Tunnel and Eastern Distributor will remain open, however, motorists should expect delays.
  • However, there will be no direct access to the CBD via Eastern Distributor exits at Cowper Bay Wharf or Kings Cross throughout the day.
