‘Future made in Australia’: Labor investing in university collaboration

The Albanese government has committed a $650 million boost for Australian research funding.

Industry Minister Ed Husic joined Sky News Australia to discuss the government’s decision.

Mr Husic said the package is part of the government’s $4 billion research and development plan over the next decade.

Mr Husic discussed how the funding will help universities collaborate and commercialise their research breakthroughs.

“It’s about getting universities across the country working together on things that matter most to the Australian economy,” Mr Husic said.

Industry Minister Ed Husic says the National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy will invest $650 million for universities to collaborate and to build a better future for Australia.

“We want people to work together,” Mr Husic told Sky News Australia.

“We want to bring our great minds from the lab bench through to the factory floor.

“Working together to be able to ensure that we’re a country that makes things – that we have a future made in Australia.

“We want universities to be working with each other, to team up and to get the biggest bang for the buck.”
