Google brings foldable phone to Australia for first time

Big is better in the world of smartphone according to Google.

The company yesterday (early this morning AEST) announced three premium variants of its main Pixel lineup, along with its first foldable phone to be sold in Australia.

Doubling down on the entire ecosystem of smartphone products, Google also announced new versions of the Pixel Watch and Pixel Buds headphones at its Made by Google event at the company’s headquarters in Silicon Valley, California.

Pixel 9 Pro Fold brings the best of a foldable form factor to life. It’s beautifully thin when folded and is barely thicker than the Pro XL, and also comes with a big 8-inch display on the inside.

Pixel 9 Pro Fold brings you the best of Google AI for a more helpful and personal smartphone. Powered by Google’s new Tensor G4 chip, Pixel 9 Pro Fold delivers improved performance and increased efficiency across a range of experiences for everyday use.

Pixel phones are known for their incredible camera quality, and this phone is no exception. Pixel 9 Pro Fold harnesses the power of Google hardware and AI capabilities with an ultra-thin advanced triple rear camera system.

The Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold is also launching Down Under on September 2.

The Pixel Fold didn’t come to Australia when it launched last year – perhaps our market was too small at the time – but Google now has all eyes on the burgeoning foldable market in Australia.
