Government sets $400 million over four years aside for ADF retention bonuses

The Albanese government has approved more than $36 million in bonuses for ADF staff.

The cash splash comes in an attempt to stem the shrinking numbers of personnel.

Mounting geopolitical has the government raising concerns of an inopportune defence personnel crisis.

More than 720 defence personnel approaching the end of their service periods will receive a $50,000 bonus if they continue for three more years.

$400,000 million has been set aside for a four-year period of the retention bonus program.
