Homes and lives are under threat from a bushfire burning in Perth’s west.
A “watch and act” alert was issued just after 9am AWST for people in the area bound by Oceanic Drive, Perry Lakes Drive, Stephenson Avenue, Rochdale Road and West Coast Highway in parts of City Beach, Floreat, and Mount Claremont, in the cities of Cambridge and Nedlands.
A bushfire which started in Bold Park poses a “possible” danger to lives and homes.
Residents in the area have been urged to leave if they are not planning to defend their home from the blaze.
Those who choose to remain are urged to make “final preparations” for firefighting.
“Do not rely on mains water pressure as it may be affected,” Emergency WA wrote.
“You need to have access to an independent water supply, and start patrolling your property to put out spot fires.”
People are urged to keep doors and windows closed and turn off evaporative air conditioners, but keep water running through the system if possible.
“If you are not at home, do not try to return as conditions in the area could be very dangerous,” Emergency WA wrote.
Different parts of Cambridge and Nedlands have an advice warning issued and are warned of significant smoke in the air.
