A total numbers of 28,003 Sri Lankans left overseas for employment in July 2024.
During the first seven months of 2024, According to a new report by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL), 175,163 Sri Lankans left for overseas employment
This was an increase compared to the first seven months of 2023, during which 171,864 had left overseas for employment and a workers’ remittance of US$ 3,363.6 million was recorded.
The CBSL report said during this period a workers’ remittance of US$ 3,710.8 million.
As per the report, the highest number of overseas departures for employment was reported in 2014.
