Huge blaze breaks out at factory in Laverton North, Melbourne

Residents in the surrounding areas have been asked to ‘keep away’.

Firefighters are battling a huge blaze at a factory in Laverton North, Melbourne.

The fire broke out at the Plummer Rd factory at 1.44pm on Tuesday, and has engulfed a pile of metal recycling materials, Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) said.

Residents in surrounding areas such as Altona, Port Melbourne, Sunshine, West Footscray and Williamstown may see and smell smoke, Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) said.

“Keep away from the area,” FRV said.
