The Japanese Government had talks with National People’s Power (NPP) Leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake on various issues, Monday, including regarding the upcoming presidential polls.
Dissanayake, who is in Japan, met TSUGE Yoshifumi, the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of Japan.
“Our discussion focused on Sri Lanka’s current economic and political landscape, the longstanding friendship between Sri Lanka and Japan, and the future of diplomatic and economic ties. Special attention was given to the upcoming presidential election,” Dissanayake said.
The NPP leader said that Yoshifumi also extended his congratulations on his visit to Japan.
The meeting was attended by TSUTSUMI Taro, Director of the Southwest Asian Division of the Department of Southeast and Southwest Asian Affairs, IWASE Kiichiro, Deputy Director of the division, and members of the Japan Committee of the National People’s Power. (Colombo Gazette)
