Japan relaxes visa application rules for Ukrainians

  • Japan has relaxed some of its visa requirements for Ukrainian citizens.
  • In February of 2024, the Embassy of Japan in Ukraine also updated visa requirements for short-term stays of Ukrainians.
  • Following the new policy aimed at developing key industry sectors in Ukraine, Japan will also provide $188 million in financing.

Since June 24, Ukrainian citizens can obtain Japan visas more easily, as the latter has simplified its visa regime to promote cultural exchange, commercial relations, and support for Ukraine’s recovery.

Although the Ministry has not yet specified the details, in February 2024, the Embassy of Japan in Ukraine announced changes for the short-term stays of Ukrainian citizens in Japan, VisaGuide.World reports.

Japan Has Simplified Visa Requirements for Short-Term Stays of Ukrainians

As the government previously revealed, representatives of Ukrainian companies participating in joint projects with Japan will be eligible for multiple-entry visas for short-term business stays. In addition, the requirements for those who took previous trips to Japan will be relaxed.

Relatives of Ukrainians who evacuated to Japan will also be able to obtain multiple-entry visas for short-term visits.

In addition, multiple-entry visas will be granted to high-income individuals and their family members. These visas will be valid for five years and allow them to stay in Japan for up to 90 days per visit.
