Magnitude 7.0 earthquake rocks Indonesia

An earthquake has rocked Indonesia in the ocean north-east of Bali this morning.

Geoscience Australia showed two different earthquake epicentres, one with a magnitude of 7.0, the other with a magnitude of 6.1, both taking place early this morning below the sea.

Footage from Bali appeared to show a hotel evacuated with people standing outside in the streets.

The Bureau of Meteorology has confirmed there is no tsunami threat to Australia.

US tourist Greg Bledsoe was one of those caught in the tremors on land in Bali.

“We were just lying in bed and the hotel began to shake,” he told Today.
