Vandals have defaced Melbourne’s iconic Flinders Street Railway Station, leaving a “significant” clean-up bill.
The heritage-listed landmark was targeted by vandals who scrawled graffiti across the clock tower.
Police are investigating after discovering the “extensive damage” wednesday .
Police said the damage is expected to result in a significant clean-up bill.
A Metro spokesperson said they were working with police to find those responsible for the damage.
“Crews have assessed the damage and are in the process of planning to remove it safely in a way that will not further damage the heritage-listed station,” the spokesperson said.
It’s understood graffiti removalists will need to abseil down the clock tower to remove the graffiti.
Investigations remain ongoing, anyone with information that can assist police with their enquiries is urged to contact authorities.
