Minor earthquake hits Melbourne’s northern suburbs

A minor earthquake was felt in the early hours of the morning in Melbourne’s northern suburbs.

The tremor in Roxburgh Park, about 20km north of the CBD, registered a magnitude of 2.2 just before 4:30am on Monday.

It was felt by 46 people, according to Geoscience Australia.

However, there have been no reports of damage or injuries caused by the quake.

“A 2.2 magnitude earthquake at 10km depth occurred at 4:29am this morning with an epicentre near Roxburgh Park in Melbourne’s north,” the Victorian SES wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

“A number of ‘felt reports’ have been received by Geoscience Australia but thankfully no reports of any damage.”
