ODI series win for Sri Lanka against India after 27 years



After 27 years, the Sri Lankan team managed to record an ODI series win against the Indian team. 

Winning the third and last one-day match against the touring Indian team by one point.

The Sri Lankan team won the toss and batted first in the match held at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo and scored 248 runs for the loss of 7 wickets at the end of the scheduled 50 overs.

Avishka Fernando scored 96 runs, Kusal Mendis scored 59 runs, Pathum Nissanka scored 45 runs and Kamindu Mendis scored 23 runs not out.

The Indian team who batted for the reply innings managed to score only 138 runs after 26 and 1 overs.
In bowling, Dunin Vellala took 4 wickets and Geoffrey Wandase took 2 wickets each. 

The first one-day cricket match between the touring Indian team and Sri Lanka ended in a draw.

Sri Lanka won the second match by 32 runs and it was three years after Sri Lanka won an ODI against India.

This ODI series was the 21st series between the two countries and India has won 15 of them.

Sri Lanka only won 2 tournaments held in 1993 and 1997 and 3 tournaments have ended without a solution.
