One week since Victorian mother Samantha Murphy vanished

Victorian mother Samantha Murphy has been missing for one week today as the search for her whereabouts continue.

The 51-year-old vanished after leaving her home on Eureka Street in Ballarat East to go for a run in the Canadian State Forest at 7am last Sunday.

She was last seen wearing a maroon singlet and brown leggings.

Her phone was last pinged at a telecommunications tower in Buninyong, about 11 kilometres south of her home.

After six days of extensive searches, police yesterday scaled back their resources to instead focus on the investigative part of their inquiries.

The Missing Persons Unit has taken the lead on investigations.

Nearby residents have taken it upon themselves to continue searches for Murphy while her family earlier this week shared an emotional plea.

“Mum’s a really strong woman and she’s far too determined to give up this fight,” daughter Jess said.

“I know she’s out there somewhere.”

Ballarat East and Mount Helen residents, particularly those near the Canadian Forest, are urged to check their CCTV for any possible sightings.

Any motorists who had travelled through the area between 7am and 7pm on Sunday are also asked to review their dash-cam footage.
