Over 1600 Australians await Qantas charter flights out of Israel

Australians wanting to leave Israel have been advised by the government not to delay ahead of the first evacuation flight later today.

More than 1600 Australians have registered with DFAT to get on Qantas charter flights from Tel Aviv to London.

At least three are scheduled to depart in the coming days, but more may be needed.

One Australian, Dana Gilden, stuck in Israel has told Sky News she’s yet to receive confirmation that she will be able to fly out.

A family of four from Adelaide went to visit relatives and have been told to try to leave via the Egyptian border crossing at their own risk.
