Australia is home to 10 new multi-millionaires after a NSW syndicate claimed the $40 million Powerball jackpot.
Thursday night’s draw gave the winners, who picked up their syndicate entries in Wentworth on the south-west NSW border near Mildura, a touch of $4 million each.
The winning numbers in draw 1424 were 10, 35, 27, 32, six, 14 and 31, and the Powerball was six.
One of the newly rich residents told lottery officials the news had sent her reeling.
“I just had a look! I can’t believe it!” she exclaimed, according to The Lott.
“That really good!
“We’re only a small town and it’s crazy to think there’s now 10 multi-millionaires here.”
Wentworth had a population of just 1500 people at the 2021 census.
The Lott said some other winners might not yet know the good news and encouraged entrants to check their tickets.
“While we’ll be reaching out to those syndicate members who registered their entries, there are a handful of people with unregistered entries who may not yet know they’re part of this winning group,” spokesperson Matt Hart said.
