Queensland brewery accepting applications for ‘chief beer tasting officer’

A Queensland brewery is offering up what must be a dream job for many Australians with an opportunity to become “the ultimate beer influencer”.

Heads of Noosa Brewing Company on the Sunshine Coast is looking for a chief beer tasting officer to work a gruelling four hours a year.

For a salary of $1000 – working out to be $250 an hour – and a free lunch, the tasting officer will front up for the following arduous responsibilities.

1. Pop the top on the company’s very first of its limited-release beer batches.

2. “Sip, savour, and analyse” the aroma, flavour, and brew quality.

3. Be able to offer feedback about whether the beer meets top-line standards.

But be warned, if your favourite drop tends to be “whatever’s on for happy hour”, you might not be up to it.

“If you’re a beer enthusiast and have a taste for adventure, we’ve got the jobs of your dreams,” brewery co-founder Lance said.

They will also need “an uncanny ability to tell the difference between good beer and ‘Holy s—, this is what dreams are made of’ beer”.

The successful applicant will not only pick up a cool $1000 for their efforts, but a $200 voucher for the brewery’s Taproom eatery, and a work “uniform” in the form of a merchandise pack.

They’ll also take home two cartons of every 2024 Heads of Noosa limited-release beers.

Thirsty applicants can put their hand up for the position here.
