Queensland public servants set to receive one-off cost of living cash payment

Nearly 250,000 Queensland public servants are set to receive a one-off cost-of-living payment before Christmas.

The government confirmed the one-off cash boost will cost the state $350 million a year.

Under the Queensland government’s wage deal, eligible Queensland public servants can get a “Cost of Living Adjustment” payment of up to three per cent if inflation exceeds their salaries.

Eligible workers will be able to get between $1,400 to $2,200 while others on bigger salaries will be able to get more.

The Queensland public servant bonus is part of a three-year agreement which was struck last year and is estimated to cost the government $350 million a year.

Paycheques are set to arrive in time for Christmas.

The government has confirmed the cost-of-living payments will cost taxpayers around $350 million annually.
