Rainy condition expected to continue in Sri Lanka

The prevailing showery condition is expected to continue further as the low-level atmospheric disturbance still persists in the vicinity of Sri Lanka, according to the Department of Meteorology.

Therefore, showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in most provinces of the island after 1.00 p.m.

Heavy showers of about 100mm are likely at some places in the Western, Central, Sabaragamuwa and Uva provinces.

Showers may occur in the Western, Southern and Eastern coastal areas during the morning too.

Meanwhile, showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the sea areas around the island.

Winds will be south-westerly or variable and wind speed will be 20-30 kmph.

The sea areas around the island will be slight.

Temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers.
