Melbourne freeway has sparked long traffic delays.

Drivers have been warned to avoid the area.
A serious crash on a major Melbourne freeway has sparked long traffic delays.

On Tuesday at about 1pm, a car rolled on the Eastlink in Scoresby and has ended up on its roof.

The number of people involved in the crash and injuries are not yet known.

There are four fire trucks, police vehicles and an ambulance on the scene.

All of the southbound lanes are closed between Ferntree Gully and Wellington Rd and there are long delays.

Drivers have been urged to exit the freeway early at High St or Ferntree Gully Rd and use Stud Rd to Wellington Rd.
