SL President Orders Inquiry into Tourist Visa Revocation Notice

President Ranil Wickremesinghe has ordered an investigation into the notification issued to Russian and Ukrainian tourists, without prior Cabinet approval, requiring them to leave the country within 14 days.

According to the President’s Media Division, the Sri Lankan Government has not officially decided to revoke the visa extensions previously granted to these tourists.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Public Security clarified that the government has not yet issued any directive requiring Russian and Ukrainian tourists to leave the country within 14 days.

The Ministry issued a statement confirming that a comprehensive investigation will be launched into the issue.

On February 22, the Controller General of Immigration and Emigration sent a letter to the Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism requesting that they inform tourists that the Department had provided 14 days for long-staying Russian and Ukrainian tourists to leave the country.
